Our property “caretakers” for many years, Wooly, Bully and Grandpa tend the meadow and entertain guests of all ages. Watching them graze and feeding them grain may well be all the activity you want! If you would like to advance to one level higher, you may want to visit our library for just the right book to read while relaxing by the creek or resting in a hammock.

Read a Book
Many a quiet and secluded spot can be found on the property, where our guests may wile away an afternoon reading or napping. Guests enjoy watching the myriad of southwestern birds (and squirrels!) that flock to the feeders, while many take advantage of the photographic opportunities that abound. For others, spending a lazy afternoon fishing or swimming in the creek may hold appeal!

Swimming and Fishing
Our own private swimming holes in the creek attract guests who would like an exhilarating and most refreshing experience. From May through September, the creek is stocked with Rainbow Trout that join the German Brown trout native to our waters. Life doesn’t get much better than when one is sitting creek-side, fishing rod in hand, watching the birds dip and dive over the water, listening to the gurgle of the creek and spying those fish lying just beneath the surface, nipping about your bait. Another thought, maybe an energizing hike would be a great idea!

Hiking
Hiking trails lure guests to this most beautiful part of our country, and we are proud to say that our staff at Briar Patch is knowledgeable about more than just a few. Based upon the pace you would like to set and the time you wish to spend, we can assist you in finding the right hike for your morning, afternoon or all day activity. And then, wouldn’t a massage be just the thing?

Massage
Elaborately carved doors from India welcome you into the Gazebo by the creek where the healing hands of our massage therapists work their magic. Songbirds surround you with their lyrical calls, while the bubbling rush of the creek lulls you into a serene state of mind. During the cooler months, you may choose to be in the Gazebo with the heaters on or by the crackling fire within the comfort of your cottage. Additional memorable experiences also await you in town!

Shopping, Sightseeing, Indian Ruins
Galleries and fine boutiques, souvenir shops and restaurants, both elegant and “laid-back” welcome your visit. The Briar Patch Inn staff enjoys sharing information with you and offering suggestions for things to do and places to go! There are day trips to such places as the “Ghost Town” of Jerome, Walnut Canyon with its fascinating cliff dwellings, Hononki and Palatki archeological sites, the Verde Canyon Railroad and, of course, the Grand Canyon (only 2 hours away). Allow us to attend to your every whim, from making your reservations for jeep tours, balloon rides and dinner in the evenings to offering suggestions for shopping expeditions and gallery viewings. Be sure to ask us about the nearby golf courses!

So many things to see! So many places to go! So many ways to enjoy, relax and pamper yourself. This being said, the staff at Briar Patch Inn suggests a stay of three nights or more. Whatever your schedule can accommodate, we at Briar Patch Inn promise you a treasured piece of paradise
