Breakfast at the Briar Patch
There is a story behind many of the creations on the property, and our breakfast is no exception. Recipes have originated with our innkeepers, the culinary creativity of our Briar Patch “chefs,” members of the Olson family, and from as far away as South Africa. It is our sincere desire to make every aspect of our guests’ experience one of ease, delight, and pleasure. Therefore we strive to provide a breakfast that meets the high standards that we hold ourselves to in every regard.
Our breakfast is presented buffet style. Our staples each morning include homemade granola, steel-cut oatmeal, hard and soft boiled eggs, South African seven grain bread, sun-dried plums in cinnamon orange sauce, cut fresh fruit, and juice. To add variety, we change our quiche daily (alternating chili relleno, tortilla, tomato feta, vegetable, or whatever new, enticing recipe comes our way). We also serve a specialty baked each day, rotating an assortment of muffins with honey bran bundt cake or cranberry nut torte.
By the Fire or by Oak Creek
Ahhhh…and where to enjoy this healthy, hearty breakfast? In the winter months our guests sit cozily by the warm fires in the lodge to enjoy their repast. In the summer months, our guests bask in the magic of the creek under a canopy of trees while feasting. Just when you think it can’t get any better, “Music Maestro!” June through mid-September, we enjoy the musical gifts of Maryanne Kremer-Ames and Allen Ames, classical guitarist and violinist known as “Lyra.” They have honored the Briar Patch with their expertise since 1989.
Open to the Public
Over the years, Briar Patch has become a favorite breakfast spot for Sedona residents. Whenever possible, and with reservations only, we love to welcome visitors to this spectacular area to join us for their morning meal. Please call us at 928-282-2342 a few days in advance to check availability.
Every afternoon, our guests may enjoy hot mulled cider—a welcome drink in the chill of the winter—or cool iced tea on a warm summer day, along with home-baked cookies, fresh fruit, crackers, and cheese. As one guest exclaimed, “You know you are in the right place when you walk in the door and are hit by the aroma of cinnamon spiced cider and freshly baked cookies.
The food, the environment, the staff-- all blended to create the bliss I enjoy each morning I’m here.
